What is Umi?

Building the NFT future…

Umi is a decentralised art collective made up of bohemian artists and OG bitcoiners from Asia. All members are passionate about art, NFTs and building the cryptocurrency ecosystem. We advocate the widespread use of strong cryptography and privacy-enhancing technologies as a route to social and political change within the traditional art industry and society at large.

Where are they building?

Umi is building blockchain applications on the Sora (XOR), Polkadot (DOT) and Ethereum (ETH) networks, with particular focus on the development of Non-Fungible Tokens and their usage in digital art and finance. Minting NFTs of hand drawn real world art and combining these with intristic cryptographic value, we aim to bring NFTs to the unwashed bitcoin masses. Umi.Digital is blockchain agnostic and combines DeFi with NFTs in a modern digital art gallery experience.

The benefit of minting NFTs on XOR

NFTs can remove intermediaries, simplify transactions, create new markets while connecting artists with audiences. NFTs can also be used to combine multiple decentralized financial assets into one tradable non-fungible digital art piece. Minting NFTs on Sora (XOR) is clean, carbon friendly and less energy intense by many factors than Ethereum (ETH).

The First Edition (Genesis) NFTs

To celebrate the mainnet launch of Sora and to mark this milestone in blockchain development, we are minting 33 rare limited edition hand drawn NFT art pieces. The art pieces will lionize the team members of Soramitsu to say thank you for their contribution to Sora and Polkadot ecosystems. These rare limited edition NFTs will be created by Purple Asahi. Each NFT will be endowed with special airdrop powers and backed by its own digital cryptocurrency assets.
